Police searching for missing man Alan Spray, who was last seen in St Albans, have found a body which they believe to be him.
The body was found by a member of the public at about 9.12am this morning in the grounds of the Gorhambury estate, near St Albans.
Alan, aged 73 and from Hatfield, went missing on Saturday July 30 from his wife’s place of work, on Verulam Road in St Albans. Officers launched a search for him supported by colleagues from the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire dog unit, specialist search teams and Bedfordshire Police where Alan had links.
Formal identification is still due to take place.

  A number of items of jewellery have been recovered after a warrant was executed at an address in Borehamwood.
Officers believe they may have been stolen but have not been able to trace them back to their owners, so are appealing for anyone who recognises them to come forward.
These items are a yellow metal wedding ring engraved with ‘CHRIS 13/6/98 IWALY’ and a yellow gold metal heart locket engraved with ‘BD’.
The warrant was executed on Friday 22 July.
A man in his 50s from Borehamwood has been arrested on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs. He has been police bailed until September.

Leeds Coroners are appealing for relatives of 85 year old John Wojciechowski to come forward.
He died of natural causes yesterday 17th August at his home address on Silk Mill Drive.
It is believed he may have a sister, a niece and a nephew living in the Rickmansworth area of Hertfordshire. Following enquiries, it is believed that his nephew may have been blind but worked as a piano tuner in the Rickmansworth area.
He is also thought to have relatives in Berkshire, and in Poland.
