Visitors to Watford are invited to enjoy their Saturday afternoons in August listening to some great music at Watford’s bandstand in the company of some of the most exciting local bands and choirs, courtesy of Watford For You, in association with the Horns Public House.
Watford’s historical bandstand is located next to Watford Central Library, near the Town Hall. The concerts are free, take place on Saturday afternoons and are great fun for all ages.
Saturday 6 August afternoon from 2.30pm: Minnie Birch
Sublime three-part harmonies from an ‘all-girl’ originals outfit. Beautiful songs with ukulele, guitar and base.
Saturday 13 August afternoon from 2.30pm: Roberto Cappellina
Local ‘Go Monaco’ front-man, with his amazing mix of beatbox, original pop songs and technical wizardry.
Saturday 20 August afternoon from 2.30pm: Esta B Daley
A lawless jazz outfit playing popular jazz hits from throughout the ages.
Saturday 27 August afternoon from 2.30pm: Tom Billington
Talented local singer/songwriter playing his unique and quirky folk-pop – with a touch of country. |

Residents can now park closer to their homes, thanks to the introduction of a new controlled parking zone.
The latest controlled parking zone to come into effect covers Coleridge Way, Wordsworth Garden, and Shelley Close in Borehamwood.
Cllr John Donne, Transport Portfolio holder, said: "We have responded to feedback from those who live on the estate and have introduced dedicated resident permit parking bays. Residents previously had to battle with commuter parking, due to the roads being so close to the train station, often with drives being blocked and corners made dangerous by poor parking.

Over 100 officers have today (August) 3) been involved in the search for missing 73 year old Alan Spray, who was last seen in near the total garage on Verulam Road in St Albans at around 8.10pm on Saturday, July 30.
Intervention and Neighbourhood officers have been supported by colleagues from the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire dog unit, specialist search teams and the force helicopter. They have been concentrating their efforts looking in the Verulam Road and Batchwood areas of the city.
Alan is described as white, approximately 5ft 9ins tall, is balding on top with grey hair to the side and wears light reactive glasses. He was described as wearing a brown and blue checked short sleeve shirt and brown/grey trousers. He may be carrying a book.

Police were called at 10.20am following reports of a road traffic collision involving a lorry on the M1 today (Friday, August 5).
Police are currently attending the scene of the collision at junction 6a of the M1 on the south bound slip road that joins the east bound M25.
Herts Fire and Rescue and ambulance are also on the scene. No other vehicles are involved.
A road closure has been put in place on the south-bound carriage way while emergency services attend to the scene.
The driver of the lorry, a man in his 30s has sustained serious injuries that are not thought to be life threatening and has been taken to St Mary’s hospital in Paddington.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information to help trace a missing teenage girl who is from Croxley Green.
16 year old Sinead Dodd-Barrow went missing from her home address in Fuller Way at 11.30am on Sunday, July 31.
She is described as white, 5ft 7ins tall, of a slim build with brown shoulder length straight hair. She was last seen wearing a blue blouse with a knot tied at the bottom, black leggings, a grey hooded top and gold gladiator sandals.
It is important Sinead is found and returned to her family. Officers have been carrying out searches and acting on information as part of their efforts to trace Sinead. Someone may be providing Sinead with food and shelter. The missing persons unit would like to remind anyone helping her can be dealt with under legislation.
Anyone who sees Sinead or who has any information on her whereabouts is asked to call the Hertfordshire Constabulary non-emergency number 101. |
