A celebration has taken place this lunchtime to mark the celebration of a £4 million refurbishment project to two high rise and four low rise blocks on the Meriden estate in Garston.
Tenants, councillors and other members of the local community attended the event, which included the opening of the revamped entrances at the foot of Abbey and Munden View.Residents of the blocks now have new kitchens and bathrooms, better windows and brighter communal areas.
Watford Community Housing Trust has also installed an efficient heating system, addressed ventilation problems and improved the electricity supply.
The project took over a year to complete and has been a centre-piece of the Trust’s five-year improvement programme to the homes it took over from Watford Borough Council.
Trust chief executive Tina Barnard said she was delighted.
She commented: "We are really proud to celebrate the completion of this work which is a major milestone in our five year improvement programme."
Do you live in Abbey or Munden View? What do you think of the improvements?
