Police called to a disturbance found naked pictures on a mobile phone and computer of a teenage girl a 26-year-old man had been in a sexual relationship with.
Nicholas Ledwith was arrested at the “dirty and untidy” two bedroom flat in Courtlands Close, Watford on suspicion of having intercourse with a minor.
However, the 14-year-old girl refused to assist with the investigation and the charges were dropped.
Police investigating reports of a disturbance from a neighbour in October last year, were told by a 16-year-old girl at the flat occupied by Ledwith and his 25-year-old friend Roy Wheeler, that the defendant’s 14-year-old “girlfriend” had left the property.
The girl later told officers she became involved in a “consensual” sexual relationship after her 16-year-old friend introduced her to Ledwith.
She said it was a “loving relationship” that had been going on with her “mother’s knowledge and consent”.
As a result of what the girl said Ledwith was arrested and his laptop and mobile phone seized.
A total of around 100 photos of the 14-year-old, some “in a state of undress or naked” and two that showed Ledwith kissing her, as well as pictures of the 16-year-old, were found.
Unemployed Ledwith refused to answer questions in interview, but pleaded guilty to five counts of making and possession of indecent images of children, at the earliest opportunity...
