Three mischievous mares were recently spotted in the Highfield area of St Albans, near Nuffield Health gym, leaving people puzzled as to where they came from.
Spotters of the trio took to the Highfield Park Facebook page to share their concerns, with their earliest sighting back in November.
On Friday, January 17, the Highfield Park Trust issued a statement to share the good news that the horses’ owner had come forward.
It reads: “The horses have now been collected by the owner and are no longer with us.
“We thank all concerned parties for their cooperation, and to everyone involved in helping us to ensure the wellbeing of the horses involved.
“We received £270 in donations which will assist in covering costs relating to the welfare of the horses.
“The Board of Trustees would like to thank the Highfield Park Trust team of five people who have spent all their time this week and their personal time trying to find a solution for the welfare of the horses.”
Prior to the owner coming forward, it was highly likely that the horses would have had to be removed by the equine bailiff as the trust did not have the facilities to keep them.
